Marcos
This is Marcos!
Mixed Pitbull puppy, 4 months old.
Markos' peculiarity is that he has just completed the basic vaccination cycle and until now he did not leave the house much due to recommendations from the vet. *
Despite the reluctance in his first walks, he unfolded his personality chasing balls, smelling everything and showing the potential of his character.
At this age, young puppies should first explore the world that opens up in front of them and, by combining as many stimuli with positive experiences, be given the appropriate motivation to engage with their handler.
* From a medical point of view, the advice not to walk the young puppy out of the house, is based on the risk to be exposed to viruses, bacteria and germs that the immune system is not yet able to fight. On the other hand we have the behavioral part which is by no means less important. If our puppy is locked in the house for 2-3 months then we risk his reactions -even to mild stimuli- to be negative, fearful and dealt with anxiety. At the same time, living in an apartment like most, the essential process of exercise has devastating effects on home furniture and whatever else our young dog will consider a toy.
The age of 8 to 24 weeks is very critical for the rest of the dogs' life concerning his socialization.
Our advice is that our four-legged friends should go for walks from the first day they enter our house. But this must be done with the right guidance and diligence.
